FORTRESS is a non-for profit meeting and receives no funding from industry.
It is made possible by the following two causes:
The Sarkomtour is a yearly fundraiser organized by the Translational Sarcoma Research Group of Prof. Sebastian Bauer, together with the Foundation University Hospital Essen and the German Sarcoma Foundation.
Patients, family members, doctors and researchers - all with genuine connections to the disease - meet and bike together while raising funds for necessary sarcoma research.
This years fundraiser took place on August 24th 2024 - and raised over 200.000€ for Sarcoma Research.
Barts Weg is a non-for-profit organization fully devoted to supporting sarcoma research and care.
The initiative was set up in the memory of the late Bart Verbeeck, a young Ewing sarcoma patient treated at the University Hospitals in Leuven who dedicated the last years of his fight against sarcoma to public awareness for this rare family of malignancies.
KU Leuven maintains the Bart Verbeeck Fund for Sarcoma Research, which has been instrumental for sarcoma research and for core funding of FORTRESS.
